Danske Bank is committed to supporting the growth and success of local manufacturers. This special business breakfast was an opportunity to hear from leading industry speakers about the issues and opportunities ahead for the manufacturing sector in Northern Ireland.

We were delighted to welcome esteemed guests Stephen Kelly, CEO of Manufacturing NI, Patsy McGlone MLA, Chairman of the NI Assembly Committee for Enterprise, Trade and Investment and entrepreneur/academic Professor Peter Russo to our second Danske Advantage event. 

Professor Russo discussed innovation in manufacturing and how to transform your business through new market opportunities.

We also had an expert panel lined up, including David Henderson of Tobermore Concrete Products Ltd to discuss their views on the local manufacturing sector.

Speakers

Patsy McGlonePatsy McGlone MLA, Chairman of the NI Assembly Committee for
Enterprise, Trade ​and Investment. ​

Patsy has been an MLA for Mid Ulster since 2003. He was previously a Councillor and twice Chairperson of Cookstown District Council, having been first elected in 1993. From 2010 to 2011 he was Deputy Leader of the SDLP. 

He is currently the chairman of the Committee for Enterprise, Trade & Investment and the All Party Working Group on Construction and he also sits on the Justice Committee. Patsy has previously been Chairperson of the Assembly’s Environment Committee, a member of the NI Housing Council and board member of the Northern Ireland Housing Executive. ​​​

Prof. Peter Russo is a serial entrepreneur and author of a considerable number of books and member of numerous supervisory boards in Germany and abroad. As founder and CEO of The Future Factory he advises commercial firms as well as social organizations in the field of innovation, transformation and entrepreneurship.

Peter Russo is also Founder and Director of the Institute for Transformation in Business and Society (INIT) at EBS Business School, Germany, one of the leading business schools in Germany. Besides EBS he is affiliated with international universities of high reputation such as Stanford, CEIBS (Shanghai) and S.P. Jain (Mumbai).

Stephen Kelly is Chief Executive of Manufacturing Northern Ireland. MNI work with the NI Executive and others to create the most competitive region in Europe in which to start, sustain and grow a manufacturing business, thus creating wealth and work. 

Their work concentrates on industrial rate, energy and labour issues whilst celebrating the great manufacturing businesses across NI.  Stephen is a former MD of a global marketing and communications firm and CEO of the Derry ~ Londonderry City Centre Initiative.




Brian TelfordBrian Telford - Head of Markets, Danske Bank

For 26 of his 31 years with the Bank Brian has been working within the Markets environment. Over the past 7 years Brian has been Head of Markets and is tasked with providing leadership and operational direction for our Markets Division. Brian is responsible for the day to day management of sub-delegated Interest Rate, Liquidity and Foreign Exchange Risks (FX) associated with Danske Bank’s balance sheet in line with the UK regulatory framework. Included within his role is responsibility for managing the deposit funding base through the raising and management of deposits from chosen Corporate and Retail clients. 

Brian holds the Securities and Investment Institute (SII) Certificate in Derivatives, is registered as CF30 Approved Person with the FSA, and holds an Hons. Degree in Business Studies from the University of Ulster.
